Escaped to Ikea Tampines for Poached Salmon & Swedish Meatballs. Didn’t like the Salmon but went window-shopping after.
Escaped even further today by going down to bras bersah to think of ways to “file” that 3 inch thick thing that i spoke about. Came back with lots of supplies. File dividers, A4 writing pads…
Sold collecting-dust books….10 books !00,000 odd pages for $10. How’s that for a deal? Shiteous in my opinion.
Had crappy crappy service at New Sin Kee Chicken Rice Stall for lunch (the one within walking distance from the National Library). Chicken was oily, Air conditioner though there, was either not on or blowing hot air through it’s air vents & lastly LOUSY BASIC ( note: basic) SERVICE. Serving the soup & drinks while keeping us waiting for the rice & chicken only to repeat that with the side vegetables towards the END of me AND my dad’s meal. AT NON-PEAK HOURS, 2 IN THE FREAKING AFTERNOON!!!
All this while not one but TWO couples who came LATER than us, gets served the EXACT same set meal almost immediately with no items missing…!!!
Dad kicked up a fuss refusing to pay while a sat back to enjoy the (rare) show while stuffing my face with what’s left on the plate
Oh. Did i mention that the meal was overpriced? Yes. I think i am now.
…Sold the old hand phone. Made $40. Was more than my initial (note: i said initial) expectations. Treated everybody to dinner -$10 from till. Had fried oyster pancake YUM
Was forced to get a new pair of sandals, Didn’t see what’s so wrong about my old trusty pair though the straps were loose & the base & front part had entire missing pieces in it…if you seen me wear it you would know.
My dad just left that trusty pair of sandals in the rubbish bin somewhere…after serving me for close to a year & a half, that’s not the way to bow out
He bought a pair too…though not matching >.<
(shall jump topics & stop with the daily/weekly updates)

I NEED TO FIND MY MOMENTUM AND GET GOING~~~!!!
i ONLY HAVE 4 MONTHS TO SAVE MY BLOODY FINE, NON-EXISTENT ASS………….
I tried looking for the Zoe Tay De Beers advertisement that i saw years ago but couldn’t find it anywhere.
I’m still wondering why they pulled out of Singapore immediately after a very successful run of their diamonds & especially that advert that Zoe Tay did.
Maybe the buzz didn’t translate to $$$ huh? We can only guess.
-
I confess i like any girl likes diamonds. But there’s a catch, i like the moolah used to buy the diamonds even more.
You know, it’s a very blinding, almost to the point of being an eyesore when i step into the jewelery store.
The tray after tray of diamonds & gold kinda stings my eyes after a while. Makes me want to stand up & run. Doesn’t help when i know nothing about how to choose jewelry.4/5 Cs.
Clarity, Cut, Colour, Cost (?! is this even in there O.o)….ok, i give up.
That’s why i like to look at the jewelry in the display window. They seem so much less blinding to the eye The best part, the sales people don’t hassle you to buy stuff.
One thing i know after browsing the websites of both De Beers & Tiffany & Co.
I’m extremely 100% sure that diamonds are definately forever.…but love isn’t. De beers didn’t quite tell you the whole story
This explains why the engagement rings all turn out more expensive & nicer looking which all the huge diamonds with all the complicated designs as compared to the WEDDING BANDS.
I even for one moment thought trying to reason why this is so. It dawned on me “wow! no wonder la….the guy needs to impress the girl mah…”
Than i want “CHEH!!! Impress liao…then? love is not rice…more so for an engagement ring…can’t survive on that”
So now i know…
The moolah needed is REALLY impressive 5000 Ka-ching for a De Beers ring?!
No way!
If it were me, I’ll go “You take the ring for yourself. I take the money…smells like money, Honey” (It rhymes!)
Haha…
-
And i also found out the music behind the De Beers advert is by Karl Jenkins, Palladio
These girls’ can give Bond a run for their money
Talking about diamonds, i shan’t go to the part about how i don’t believe one ounce when De Beers says their diamonds are 100% from conflict free areas.
Come on! I don’t buy that shit nor the certificate that comes along with the diamond that one might buy to certify that it is from a reliable source. I’m wondering who would….
Blood Diamonds.
Leonardo Dicapro.
Haven’t watch it. Will do someday, one of these days….when i care enough of diamonds.,,
Kim Jong Ill is so powerful that he has an invisible hand over almost everything & anything that he wants to control…such is his power & influence
I don’t know whether to dismiss these Japanese born Korean decedents as pure concentrated, undiluted lunatics or to pity them.
That 18 year old guy (now i believe much older) or that journalist girl i make a conscious choice to believe ddidn’t have much of a choice either because they couldn’t choose which sort of family they were born into nor the kind of school he was enrolled in nor the kinds of things their parents believed in & chose to inculcate in them.
The surprising thing is, the Japanese Government it seems, made no attempts to regulate what goes on in the school…much less close it down.
Pachinko parlors & North Korea. Wow! never did knew they co-existed & feed of each other.
O.o
Shows that Pachinko is no good…but good enough for the North Korean regime.
That was my only response when i saw this at tomorrow.sg.
Did a double take…still don’t believe this is real
Somebody please tell me this thing is photoshopped or something because when i first saw this, 2 questions came into my mind:
How does one live with such a name in Singapore (where we laugh & crack jokes that soon become stale & less than funny) for EIGHTEEN freaking YEARS?!
How did he ACTUALLY got down to making his IC at the age of 15/16 (the general age where we get ours done)?! And i’m not even talking about the queues at the ICA building…imagine the kind of questions/interviews that he, his father & possibly grandfather must go through to get a small sheet of plastic-like thing done. As if going through the queues for both the queue number AND the passport size photo is not enough
If this is REAL. I don’t know what to say man…
I always say you respect the name your parents give you….Since we can accpect Ah Khow, Ah Ter, Ah Lian, Ah Huay, what’s there not to accpet.
Today i learnt a valuable lesson to not jump to conclusions, just yet…
But i think this guy seriously needs some real luck with him wherever he goes & meets (literally). Or he needs to change his name once he is legally able to do so.
Imagine the horrors he would have to go through in all the custom checkpoints & if he were to EVER try his (tough) luck to go to USA considering he’s javanese by race who we all know originates from a physical place/country, indonesia, which (reluctantly) houses JI who we don’t want to know anything anymore about thanks to a person by the name of Mas Selamat. He who single handedly made Wong Kan Seng lose his year end bonus & do the clown like i-apologize-but-i-don’t thingy in parliament, on national TV no less] & Muslim (sadly not by choice)…
Peace man…whoever you are, if you go by this name, i applaud your guts & patience & wish you lots of luck & an even bigger heart to not take to heart all the shit you (might) have to go through on a daily basis.
Dominic Yeo took the words straight out of my mouth/mind:
The latest craze is Facebook. I genuinely believe that online friend making media on the Internet is artificial and useless.
Call me crazy but my idea of a friend is someone whom I could trust, someone who shares my interests, someone who is there when I need him or her, someone I can talk to, someone who is willing to be a friend.
But on the internet, mediums like Friendster and Facebook have become nothing but a showcase of who has the most friends, whether one person’s site or wall is painted or graffitied enough or what-have-you.
Who the hell can say I am close to my primary school friends, my secondary school friends, my college friends, my CCA friends and church friends?
I cannot.
I’ll be honest.
I have completely lost contact with my primary school friends. They have had gatherings but I have been left out so far. The few that I see out on the streets, have become nothing but mere acquaintances, strangers for many. I cannot remember some of them.
I have better luck with my secondary school friends but even with that, I cannot keep up much longer if they do not bother or feel that they have far more important things at hand.
Should I include these people as friends?
I do admit that I am taking a harsh approach on my circle of friends. It has always been this way. Once I sense you give up keeping in contact, or I sense you are failing to maintain friendship, you automatically downgrade in my circle of friends.
I think keeping friends using Facebook and Friendster is mediocre, childish and useless.
You want to be my friend? Drop me a message, call me, email me and look for me, I will always be here as long as you are interested.
If not, you are merely a classmate, schoolmate, an acquaintance.
Now you know exactly how i feel (since somebody else did the articulation so well )
Heh.
Thanks Mr Postcard for the recommendation. It was a good read
I mentioned before that Hotelier was the first & my favorite K-drama. And this was the show that introduced me to Bae Yong Joon (No, not Winter Sonata…not what you’re thinking )
I was so bored yesterday. Thinking of finding the Korean version i stumbled onto the Japanese one & thought to myself “heck! just watch it la…i got nothing to do also.”
After watching (I’m at episode 7 currently), i have this to say:
have to admit I like the Korean version better not because it came out first, but because it had more character development. Granted it had almost twice as many episodes as the JP version. For some reason I wasn’t drawn to the characters in the JP version as much as the K-version. It’s probably just a matter of personal taste. I do like the JP version though, and I give it credit for taking a 20 episode storyline and shrinking it down to 9 without taking out too many subplots.
Whoever that wrote this, took the words straight out of my mouth.
Odagiri Kyoko (Ueto Aya) is a very sweet manager but she seems so….formal and straight. Somehow I missed the scatterbrain, direct and sparkling Suh Jin Young. Remember the ‘300 Roses’ and the ‘Missing ring’ scenes? hehe! How not to notice a girl like that?
Eloise on Hotelier2002 mentioned that the actor who took up the M&A role was very brave. And indeed he was….because the world would be comparing him to Shin Dong Hyuk (Bae Yong Joon). I think he’s a very credible actor.
Just My Observation
The guy you see at the bottom Is the very brave guy that Eloise was talking about. Took me 3 episodes or so to get use to him & Ueto Aya. Couldn’t imagine anybody else besides Bae Yong Joon & Song Yun Ah as Shin Dong Hyuk & Suh Jin Young. And the whole time i kept thinking, why does this guy look so much like Tony from 5566 the Taiwanese band & Selina Li from S.H.E.
That thought is still floating in my brain right now. Don’t you think he looks like Tony from certain angles? They both have the same kind of hooded eyes & thin lips. Ueto Aya looks like the smaller version of Selina…..
You know, i watch too much Korean dramas with either very handsome or really pretty actors to switch my mentality fast enough to adapt to the average looking but good acting chops kind of Japanese actors
Brave guy managed to pull it off & interpret Shin Dong Hyuk in his own way. (Though i still prefer Shin Dong Hyuk)
Saeko vs Chen Qiao En (Can pass off as sisters)
oikawa mitsuhiro vs Tony Sun (Spot the similarities I’m talking about…at one glance you will mistake one for the other)
Ueto Aya vs Selina Ren (If Selina were to slim down a little more…she would look like < this)
(For the lack of better pictures, this was the best i could find on google)
Haha….ok i went way off tangent.
Watch the Japanese (and Korean) version they’re both good
All pictures i shamelessly copied from Tiffany unless otherwise stated.

The Olympic fever has come into my house in the form of these plushies.
The ORIGINAL authorized plushies.
They are called 福娃(贝贝、晶晶、欢欢、迎迎、妮妮).
I didn’t know they were called that. So when Ms Quiet asked me if i knew what my belated birthday presents were, i told her “是不是 vodoo dolls?” She gave me a WTF + -.- look so i proceeded to explain to her what a vodoo doll is. Than she went “不是,不是!!!。。。你知不知道贝贝、晶晶、欢欢、迎迎、妮妮?” Saw it in the news before so i went “Ohhhhh…!!! its that one arh…!!!”
Damn embarrassing la. I so thought that 福娃 was the chinese name for vodoo -.-”’.
They sound so alike….damn.
My stomach is now so full with Ding Tai Fung’s Fried Rice with prawns, Xiao Long Bao, pork ribs (that turned out to be stripped pork chop) & a chocolate slushie from Ben & Jerry’s (the very first time i had anything from there :P)…i could die pf bliss.
No wonder they say 能吃是福 haha….
Side note. I think that the Olympics & politics shouldn’t mix. No matter how screwed up china & its policies may be. It’s not everyday that you see something so straightforward, clear cut (reach the line first, get a gold medal) in a land which in itself & its history is fraud with controversy, greed & all things bad.
So yea.
But than again, i’ve never seen THIS level of frenzy when the Olympics was in Athens.
I tell you its crazy. When the Chinese do things, they either do it HUMONGOUS or they don’t do it at all.
Such extremes eh?
These 福娃 thingy doesn’t come cheap they cost anything from s$30 to s$ 70 depending on how many inches they are. (i can’t seem to find the product specifications on the box. My Chinese isn’t great. Ended up checking the official merchandise website)
Man. Me & my fetish with vodoo dolls….
Reminder to self: 福娃≠vodoo doll.
Beyond embarrassing….in the middle of the bus interchange some more
-
Ms Quiet. Thanks for the dinner treat & the birthday present (though belated) i like it. Bwahaha…another addition to my bear bear collection ) & also that key chain souvenir from Philippines. THANKS
I’ve been watching these documentary for the past 2 days many more can be found on youtube.
Don’t know if you can forget the little Korean girl’s face, the screams of the women, the face of the Chinese policemen who were trying with all their might to drag the women out of the Japanese Consulate.
After watching video after video the only conclusion i can come to is, what happened in Hitler’s holocaust will happen once again. The only difference, this time the rotting bodies stacked high will be Koreans.
No doubt in my mind that we the world are not ready for the mass exodus of 22 million (that’s right million, go figure how many zeros there are) when kim Jong ll’s regime collapses upon its on weight.
China is not ready for it.
Japan is not ready for it.
South Korea is not ready for it.
Nobody’s ready for anything. Not me, not you, not you, not Lee Myung Bak not anybody.
All we ever talk about is the nuclear issue, the kidnapped Japanese, the kidnapped Koreans, reunification etc etc etc.
Where’s the people? Not part of the picture or at least the picture that we want to see i guess…
-
Nobody ever talks about how are we going to educate people who barely know how to write their names.
Nobody ever talks about whether psychologist around the world are ready to treat millions upon millions of people who have some form of emotional trauma & what not.
Nobody ever talks about doctors receiving training & psychological conditioning before treating an entire country of sick people with every disease imaginable.
Nobody ever talks about the day that will come, when its the south Koreans who will have to keep out the people they call their blood brothers & NOT the DMZ.They can’t handle the heat & problems that the North Koreans bring with them…
Nobody ever talks about whether combat ready south Korean soldiers are ready for their North Korean counterparts who will not give up without a fight…are they ready to shoot if needed…maybe…god knows.
Nobody ever talks about what kind of employment or training is available for these millions of North Koreans. Samsung/Hyundai certainly never thinks about such stuff.
In short, nobody really knows exactly what to do with a surplus of 22 million people (plus minus a few million who will die of hunger & disease when crossing the border) who need to be fed, clothed, educated & employed.
-
What do we do with these 22 million odd extra beings? Dispose of them like rubbish or chuck them all in one area? That seems like the way to go for now because there isn’t really much policy/procedure put in place for something that we know is going to happen.
Something that we ALL know will happen but continue to pretend that we are oblivious to it. North Korea will open up regardless of whether we like it or are ready for it.
The only thing that i can predict will happen is the hasty disposal of Kim Jong Ill & his generals. We’ve seen that in Saddam (a prime example) & the Japanese war generals. So expect the expected.
If the regime doesn’t fall in my generation, it will fall in the next or the next or the next next generation.
By then, i hope i’ll be 6 feet under soaked in my own juices, with my body eating itself away (if there’s a body left to begin with) i don’t want to have the eyes or the brains to see how the world & humankind will fumble and mess itself up spectacularly…again.
-
As of now pray, your asses off that your son or brother who is going to be drafted or is already in the Korean army doesn’t have to face the shit that comes along with the collapse of North Korea. Pray & hope that the second Korean war doesn’t happen…not while your son or brother is serving.
North Korea will bring the world to its knees, not with its nuclear weapons but by showing us our own stupidity, that we have not even started to understand the magnitude of the problem that we are dealing with now or are definately going to have to deal with.
Moral of the story? South Korea isn’t exactly the land of the free that north Korea defectors think it to be.Time (and god) is not on our side or anybody’s side for the matter.
-
We are a long way off from removing that 17 by 5 inch slab of concrete that stand between north & south Korea
Exemplifies the phrase “So near yet so far” eh?
-
History doesn’t repeat itself. We repeat history.
True liberty, equality, fraternity (as the French coined it during their own 1789 Revolution) does not exist whether democratic, socialist or communist.
There forever remains an invisible & treacherous line that divides the have form the have-not & everything in the middle that separates the the 2 extremes.
Before freedom there must be blood.
-
So, the question remains.
Are we ready to give the 22 million people they so sought after….or so we think?
Is freedom really that free?! I think not…
-
It’s a screwed world we live in & North Korea, Iraq & George Bush just helps make that fact all the more clearer.
So crystal clear you wished you weren’t part of the (bloody) picture. I for one never wished i was part of it, that I’m very sure about.
